Business and Management with Law

Student in a lectureOn the Business and Management with Law scheme you will spend two thirds of your time studying business and management, and the remaining third in law.

The Business and Management element focuses on the world of enterprise and the impact of changes in the business environment in terms of economic events, changes in accounting practices, changes in the regulatory and legal environment, marketing decisions, and the development of business strategies. This will enable you to develop a broad understanding of management in practice, and its relevance to business, trade and commerce in both the public and private sector. Your studies will involve you in activities that consider the complexity of management challenges and the combined impact of the economic, financial, human and legal issues that managers deal with on a daily basis.

In your first year you must study the following core modules: Marketing Principles, Introduction to Management, Business Environment, and Managing Finance. The compulsory modules will provide you with a firm foundation on which to build your future business, management and legal studies. In the second part of your first year, you will then choose from the following optional law modules: Foundations of Law, or Law of Contract.

In the second and third year you will study core modules including: Firms, Markets and Pricing; Human Resource Management; Organisational Behaviour; Operations and Innovation Management; Business Strategy; Contemporary Research in Management; and Business and Society. Each of the modules places a strong emphasis upon real business and legal situations to ensure that you are well prepared to successfully enter the world of work.
